The magazine's science editor, Jim Wilson, claimed that the Groom Lake facility (Known as Area 51) was moving its more sensitive operations away from this location. Area 51 needed a more discrete location away from what had become a tourist destination. The new location was named 6413, being cheeky...afterall what is 64 minus 13? - This location according to Wilson is near the green river in Utah. Readers of the magazine were quick to write complaints to the magazine. Media was swift and brutal towards Popular Mechanics as well. Keep in mind as you research this conspiracy, this was all reported on in 1997 and dismissed.
So if this story is debunked so easily, why is this area so heavily guarded and inacessible? Why is there a mystery surrounding it according to forums posted by pilots?
